Bellevue, WA – August 13, 2025 – Medbridge, the leader in digital care solutions for healthcare professionals, today announced new surgical therapy programs available through its digital musculoskeletal (MSK) and movement-based medicine platform, Pathways. The new offerings, Surgical Pathways, provide hospitals and physical therapy organizations a complete care journey for their patients, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery. Covered conditions include total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA), which approximately 1 million patients undergo annually. Compared to digital- or in-person care-only treatment options, patients who have access to hybrid care options experience better access to care, more surgical success, and lower overall costs.

The addition of Surgical Pathways, part of Medbridge’s One Care platform, builds upon the existing suite of care programs—spanning musculoskeletal and joint care, women’s health, fall prevention, and more—and is designed to consolidate fragmented, variable care systems that are driving up costs and making it difficult for patients to access care. Each Pathway provides a structured, yet customizable approach to care that combines clinical best practices, digital engagement, and outcome measurement, making it easy for hospitals and private practices to scale high-quality care without adding complexity.

“Our clinics were so busy that we were struggling to meet high patient demand,” said Brock Haut, Director of Retail Operations at Beacon Health System. “We knew we needed a hybrid care platform that made care more convenient, accessible, and able to fit into our patients’ busy schedules. Medbridge’s Surgical Pathways are helping us free up in-clinic space for the patients who need in-person care the most. Pathways is also helping us create a bridge for patients facing insurance restrictions on in-person visits so we can prolong the duration of their therapy and provide the care they need and deserve.”

Medbridge’s Surgical Pathways programs focus on optimizing recovery across the perioperative journey, supporting high-cost, high-need populations. Surgical Pathways are bolstered by AI-assisted motion capture that helps clinicians monitor precise range of motion measurements with motion capture technology to track post-surgery progress for TKA and THA. These digitally-enabled care programs improve patient adherence, reduce complications, and enhance surgical outcomes with progressive exercises, multi-faceted education, and patient monitoring. According to recent Medbridge internal data, 70 percent of Pathways patients reduce pain with an average reduction of 40 percent, and 69 percent of patients increase function by an average of 56 percent using the program.

“From Advanced Primary Care frameworks and orthopedic practices to outpatient rehab settings, care teams are searching for solutions that reduce variation, streamline care coordination, and extend clinical reach—without adding operational burden,” said Sarah Jacob Singh, Chief Product Officer, Medbridge. “Pathways is customizable based on care strategy, clinical capacity, and reimbursement model, and this flexibility helps organizations move from fragmented systems to coordinated, outcomes-driven care. Our new Surgical Pathways embodies this philosophy, supporting patients for a holistic care journey that evolves with them pre- and post-surgery.”

By offering structured, evidence-based care plans that span a range of conditions and settings, Pathways helps organizations drive performance by pulling on multiple levers—from remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM) enablement and fee-for-service throughput, to population health management and value-based care readiness.

Whether supporting a patient recovering from joint replacement surgery, managing pelvic pain during pregnancy, or working to prevent falls in older adults, Medbridge empowers clinicians to deliver the right care at the right time—in person, virtually, or through digital-first engagement.
